Frankie breaks Town Hall records. One of TV’s hottest comics, he has added an extra date at Middlesbrough Town Hall after his initial show has sold out a record nine months in advance!

BBC ‘Mock the Week’ star Frankie Boyle’s show on Monday 17 May next year has sold out so fast that promoters have quickly added an extra date on Tuesday 18 May to help meet the huge public demand for tickets.

Frankie’s new show – ‘I Would Happily Punch Every One of You in the Face’ – follows his record breaking 2008 tour, which sold over 125,000 tickets and led to one of the biggest selling DVD’s of the year.

Graham Ramsay of co-promoters Ten Feet Tall said: “The box-office phones were just ringing off the hook as soon as word got out about the original date. It’s by far the earliest we’ve ever sold out for a comedy show. Frankie loves the venue, so he was more than happy to add an extra date to meet the demand.”

The news comes hot on the heels of new Town Hall shows for 2010 announced by Jimmy Carr and Welsh Wonder Rhod Gilbert.

Jimmy Carr brings a brand new show – Rapier Wit – to Boro on Monday 18 January, while Rhod Gilbert is lined up for Friday 16 April.

Jimmy famously described Middlesbrough Town Hall as his ‘favourite gig’ on ITV’s Loose Women late last year, while Rhod Gilbert has taken the comedy world by storm over the last 12 months.

Sensational appearances on ‘The Royal Variety Performance,’ ‘Live at the Apollo,’ and ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’ have wowed millions on TV, and led to London culture bible Time Out describing him as: ‘Without doubt one of the best comedians anywhere in the world right now.’

Laura Hannaway from Middlesbrough Town Hall said: “The new shows are just great news for comedy fans everywhere. We’ve got some of the biggest names around queuing up to play here, and our line-up stretching into next year is easily the busiest and best we’ve ever had. It shows that the Town Hall is firmly up there as one of the best venues in the country.”
