Teesside comedy fans have another amazing night to look forward to – after legendary stand-up Jack Dee today confirmed to play at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Monday 26 November.
It’s a hugely welcome Teesside return for Jack and demand is again expected to be high when tickets go onsale at the Town Hall Box Office at 1pm this Tuesday (19 June).
During a six-year absence from stand-up, Jack has been busy appearing on shows like QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News For You, Shooting Stars and Live at the Apollo.
He’s also hosted Radio 4’s legendary I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, co-wrote and starred in four series of BBC2’s hit sitcom Lead Balloon, and wrote his best-selling memoirs Thanks for Nothing, which he modestly dedicated to himself – ‘Without whom none of this would have been possible.’
But, as ARC fans found out last month, he’s now back in full stand-up mode, agonizing over the slightest of annoyances and misdemeanours in his trademark grumpy style.
Delighted promoter Graham Ramsay of Ten Feet Tall said: “It’s absolutely fantastic news! I’ve been trying to book Jack Dee for literally 20 years, so to be able to bring him to Teesside twice in one year is just one of the best feelings ever!
“I was away when Jack was at ARC last month, so I actually ended up missing the show. I was gutted enough about this, but it was even worse when I heard the show was an absolute cracker.
“He’s one of my all-time favourite stand-ups, but I’ve never managed to see him live as he doesn’t tour very often. So there’s no way I’m missing the gig this time round – as long as I’m in time to get a ticket.”
“Jack’s ARC show was a ‘work-in-progress’ and completely sold out in 15 minutes. It was our fastest ever selling gig, so I reckon it might be an idea to get down to Town Hall well before one o’clock on Tuesday to bag a ticket for this one.”
Jack’s show adds to an already star-studded comedy line-up at the Town Hall.
Big Mouth Comedy Club continues to bring some of the best comics on the circuit to packed crowds at the Crypt on the first Saturday of every month, and TV big-hitters including Michael McIntyre (6 July), Jason Cook (20 July), Jim Jefferies (7 Sept), Frankie Boyle (29 Sept & 27 Oct), Tim Vine (3 Oct), Al Murray (16 Oct), Kevin Bridges (17 Oct), Rhod Gilbert (30 Oct), Stewart Francis (8 Nov), Jimmy Carr (10 Nov), Chris Ramsey (17 Nov) & Micky Flanagan (2 May) are all heading for the Boro stage too.
And, looking at even more to follow, Graham Ramsay added: “I honestly can’t think of a more exciting time and a bigger bunch of great shows we’ve been able to put together than the list we have now.
“And it looks like we have plenty more up our sleeves too. We’re still awaiting confirmation of some great shows over the next few weeks, so keep watching this space.”
