A nationally acclaimed local poet and business owner join forces with a dream of transforming local nightlife. Bedford St. Coffee with be the spot for culture in Middlesbrough next week as poets perform poetry, music, comedy and spoken word in a special event. If the response is good the organisers hope this could become a regular thing.
A one night special event of poetry, comedy, music and spoken word at Bedford St. Coffee Wednesday 22nd March at 7.30pm. Entry £3. Bar available. Served up by your barista of balladry local poet Chris Stewart with the assistance of David Beattie.
Owner David Beattie wants to reinvigorate the cultural nght life of Middlesbrough. "Bedford St. Coffee has coffee tasting nights and comedy. We want to cultivate a place where you can find something a little different on a night out. Poetry is a new addition to what we host after hours."
Local poet Chris Stewart is compering this first evening of coffee, poetry and light entertainment. "There's a wealth of spoken word and performance talent in Middlesbrough and I'm delighted David Beattie is offering a place for this talent to be showcased.
Local talent such as poet Steven Bruce and local comedienne Amy Cromack will be supporting headliners Sky Hawkins and Aiden Clarke. Music throughout the night is from Reece Hanrohan and Alex Chalmers.
Chris Stewart performs regularly around the UK, including sets at Mr Fluffypunk's Penny Gaff, Edinburgh Fringe and will be performing at Cheltenham Literary Festival later this year.
