The country is set to go gold medal crazy once again as the Paralympics prepares to get under way.

On Wednesday, August 29, Middlesbrough will celebrate the Paralympics Opening Ceremony, with the Big Screen in Centre Square bringing full coverage of the event, from 7.30pm – 11pm.

After the celebrations, the real action will begin with daily coverage of the event from 9am – 10pm everyday.

People are being encouraged to pop down and support team GB’s Paralympian athletes including the youngest Paralympian 16-year-old Jade Jones from Middlesbrough.

Along with the Paralympics coverage, the popular Sportszone activities will be back in Centre Square, offering free sports for everyone:

  • 29th – 31st August, 1pm – 6pm
  • 3rd – 7th September, 3pm – 6pm
  • 8th – 9th September, 1pm – 5pm

On Sunday, September 8, the Paralympics coverage will finish at 6.30pm, for a live broadcast of Last Night of The Proms from 7.30pm.
