
To tie in with mima’s current exhibitions mima is hosting a series of informative & engaging talks.
Enjoy two talks by popular art historian, journalist and freelance lecturer Dr Gail-Nina Anderson and an artist talk by Julian Stair.
Dr Anderson is a visiting lecturer at the University of Sunderland Centre for Lifelong Learning specialising in Art History, English Literature and Film Studies. She has spoken previously at the Laing, mima, the DLI, the Lit and Phil and many other institutions around the UK.
The Human Body, Death and the Vessel in Art
Taking the theme of Julian Stair’s exhibition, Quietus: The vessel, death and the human body, Dr Anderson will talk about the human body, death and the vessel in art through the ages.

The Home in Art
Dr Anderson will discuss the subject of the home in art, taking inspiration from the exhibition, Life, death and home in between: works from mima collection (at mima until 23 November).

As part of mima’s series of artist talks, ceramicist Julian Stair will talk about his exhibition, Quietus: The vessel, death and the human body (at mima until 25 November).
