This sculpture by Edwin Hawking was commissioned by Middlesbrough Borough Council in 1962 and installed on the exterior of the Dunning Road Police Station (photo: 1).

That building has since been demolished and the sculpture was transferred to Teesside University in 2010 and was re-dedicated by Sly Bailey, Cheif Executive of Trinity Mirror PLC on April 7, 2011.

The Cook building was formerly owned by the Trinity Mirror newspaper The Evening Gazette. It includes a convergent newsroom, which offers professional training for students from the University’s journalism programmes and external reporters. In addition, the Cook Building also houses two large customised design studios and an IT suite for computer-aided design. Workshops for wood, metal, plaster, resin and glass are on the lower floors.

Additional photos of the sculpture are available on the Art Seen Facebook Page
